Ashley Lutton, of
Rehoboth Beach, was referred to KSI in 2002 by the Division of
Developmental Disabilities Services.
For Ashley, being as
independent as possible is critical to his happiness. "I ask
for help if I need it, otherwise I like to do things myself." said
Ashley. He often appears to be introverted and aloof, however,
his demeanor is often misread because of his hearing and his visual
impairments.
Ashley focuses on
the work he is doing and concentrates to do his best. He often
appears to be in his own world as his concentration is so intense.
"I like working on Fastenal," said Ashley. "I know how to do
it." A smile of pride covers Ashley's face as he talks about
the paycheck he earns and how he uses that money. Not only does
Ashley like spending his own money, but he also likes being able to
help his mother if she needs help financially. Ashley can be
found regularly buying tee shirts and pizza on the boardwalk in
Rehoboth Beach, and listening to the bands at the bandstand.
One of Ashley's
favorite things about KSI is that transportation picks him up from
home each morning and takes him back at the end of the day. |
