Israel Goldsberry, of
Dover, was referred to KSI in August 2006 from the Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).
Israel was in the
Early Start to Supported Employment Pilot Program, through his
school, the Ceasar Rodney John S. Charlton Program. This pilot
program was sponsored by DVR, the Division of Developmental
Disabilities Services, and the Department of Education.
After touring KSI with
his school, Israel decided he wanted KSI’s help in meeting his
employment needs. Through assessment, we learned that Israel wanted
to work in a grocery store. He now works at the Metro Food Market in
Dover and is responsible for bagging groceries, retrieving carts
from the parking lot, and spot checking the store for customer
service concerns such as spills and displaced items. Israel
coordinates his work schedule and his recreational wants through
DART Transportation. KSI maintains on-going support with Israel and
Metro, a service that’s instrumental in maintaining job
satisfaction.
Israel is the eldest
of nine children. He likes fishing with his brother and going to
church. He is a caring person, quick with a kind word. Staff and
customers at Metro seem to like Israel as much as he likes his job
at Metro. Israel is blessed with a positive attitude which he
readily shares. |
