Richard Dunning, of
Hartly, was referred to KSI in 2006 by the Division of Developmental
Disabilities Services. Richie, as he prefers to be called, is always
dressed neatly.
Like other program
participants, Richie went through evaluation and work adjustment
training at KSI. He was then hired on a community-based work crew at
Playtex Products, in Dover. A young man turning 23 this year, Richie
has been certified to operate a manual pallet jack. At Playtex, he
usually handles product and supplies the crew of scanners.
While Richie is glad
that he earns a paycheck from KSI on the Playtex work crew, he does
dream of a job where he can use his artistic talents. Through KSI’s
job development training, Richie took a tour of Xtreme Graphix, in
Milford, which showed him how his artistic talents can be combined
with his love of cars. KSI will continue to help Richie find a job
that best suits his interests and his abilities.
Richie also keeps busy
with Special Olympics and has accumulated 5 gold medals; 2 in
basketball, 2 in tennis, and 1 in softball. The Baltimore Ravens is
his favorite football team. |
