KSI 3 Club Golf Tournament Proves To Be Successful

KSI’s 17th Annual 3 Club Tournament, held on October 11th at Shawnee Country Club, proves to be a successful fund raiser.

According to Alicia Hollis, tournament coordinator and Director of Community Relations for KSI, this year’s tournament was unique.  Hollis said, “This is the first year we postponed our tournament. In August, when we were originally scheduled to play, there was an excessive heat advisory which we took very seriously. We rescheduled for October 11th, and played in the rain. Weather wasn’t very kind to us this year, but our sponsors certainly were very generous, and our players were dedicated.  Nearly all of the golfers who were originally signed up for August toughed it out with us and played through the rain too. We are very thankful for our dedicated golfers.”

Major sponsors this year were Citizens Bank, Discover Bank, Sunoco Foundation, Delaware River and Bay Authority, and Comcast.  Donations from nearly 200 other area businesses made it possible for golfers to receive goody bags, door prizes, lunch, dinner and various awards.  Hollis elaborated, “We also rely on our tournament volunteers to make the day run smoothly.”

The golf cart sponsor was Comcast. 19th hole sponsors were Comcast and Johnny Janosik. The putting contest sponsor was Tidewater Utilities. The driving range sponsor was Mellon; the mulligan sponsor was Weller’s Utility Trailers; lunch sponsors included Delaware Today, Dover Federal Credit Union, Dover Volkswagen, Kirby & Holloway Provision Company, Mellon, and Regional Builders; scoreboard sponsors included Delaware Federal Credit Union, DENTSPLY/Caulk, Mellon, and National HVAC.

First place low gross was awarded to the National HVAC team of Joe Aurillo, Mike McPhail, Tom Rathfon, and Rick Urgo.  First place low net was awarded to Virginia Walker, Vaughn Crouch, Craig Crouch, and Jayson Crouch.  Each person on the highest scoring team, Bob Stickles, Lester Beachy, Ira Hitchens, and Lawrence Lank, received a “Fishin’ For Fun” gift basket.
