ABOUT KENT SUSSEX
INDUSTRIES
Kent-Sussex Industries, Inc. (KSI) is a
private, not for profit vocational rehabilitation
organization which serves the residents of Kent and
Sussex Counties Delaware and is governed by a volunteer
Board of Directors.
KSI's mission is to provide supports and
services which help individuals who need specialized
assistance to obtain and maintain an optimal level of
employment. Individual programs are provided in order to
support employment opportunities.
Approximately 280 individuals receive
services per year. Program participants are referred to
KSI by agencies such as the Division of Developmental Disabilities
Services (DDDS), the Division of Vocational
Rehabilitation (DVR), the Division for the Visually
Impaired (DVI), Veterans Administration (VA), and various school
districts. Services provided include transportation, vocational
evaluation, work adjustment training, facility based work services,
community based work crews, supported employment, and
competitive placement.
Originally known as the Golden Opportunity
Center, Inc., KSI was founded in 1962 with a grant from
Delaware Foundation for Retarded Children (DFRC). What began in a small
facility in Camden, just south of Dover, Delaware grew over the next
decade to include four satellite facilities. In 1985, programs in
Woodside, Bridgeville, Dover and Milford were consolidated and moved to
KSI's
current location, a 77,000 sq. ft. plant, located at 301 N. Rehoboth
Blvd, Milford, Delaware.
KSI is a full member agency of the United
Way of Delaware and since 1980 has been accredited by the
Commission for Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities
(CARF).
Community awareness, involvement and support
are critical to the success of this organization. We
encourage tours of the facility and welcome the
opportunity to have a KSI representative speak with your
service club or organization. For more information about
tours or a speaker, please contact our Community
Relations Department at 302-422-4014 ext. 3015.
